This isn’t the news I wanted to share. We weren’t able to hit our final FEC fundraising goal of the campaign before the deadline expired last night.

Now, the sky isn’t falling just because we missed this goal. And I’m not going to scare you, trick you, or guilt you into making a donation — that’s not how we do things here.

But I will be honest with you in saying that these goals really do matter.

We had to raise our fundraising goals this month after we learned Eric Hovde wrote himself another $7 million check last quarter and Mitch McConnell’s super PAC launched a $24 million ad blitz in Wisconsin.

Staying competitive in this toss-up race isn’t as easy for me as tapping into a multi-million-dollar personal fortune like my opponent can. Instead, I rely on folks like you who pitch in what you can, when you can, to power our campaign.

But here’s the issue: If we continue to be outspent by Republicans in these final weeks as Wisconsinites cast their votes, we could easily lose this battleground race.
