Serbia
Solidarity with protesters in Serbia
The European Greens stand with Serbian citizens opposing Rio Tinto's lithium mining project in the Jadar Valley. Though the project was halted in 2022 after widespread protests, it was reintroduced by President Vučić without adequate public consultation. The Greens urge the EU to enforce strong environmental and social standards, requiring companies to address their impacts on communities and nature. They also call for the EU to support sustainable resource practices and condemn any intimidation of activists opposing the project. Watch our video.

European Green co-chairs Thomas Waitz and Mélanie Vogel stress that climate breakdown is already affecting millions and warn that immediate action is essential. Read more.

Greens/EFA in the European Parliament: Viktor Orbán spreads fear about refugees and LGBTIQ+ people to hide his corruption and cosy relationship with Putin. We need to stand up against it.
