While the national spotlight has largely moved on from the destruction of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, Americares has not. Our response teams are on the ground right now providing critical medical care and relief to devastated communities across the Southeast.

Responding: Hurricane Helene

When Hurricane Helene struck, severe flooding and mudslides devastated communities in North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee. Americares is often among the first on-site following a disaster – and this storm was no exception. With support from humanitarians like you, our team has:

• Delivered more than 4 tons of medical supplies, including antibiotics and chronic disease medications.
• Installed water filtration systems at multiple sites, with each system providing safe drinking water for up to 10,000 people a day. 
• Launched a mobile clinic to provide medical resources to the hardest-hit communities throughout Western North Carolina.
• Conducted over 160 mental health sessions.

Responding: Hurricane Milton

In Florida, we’re working with the Gulf Coast communities affected by Hurricane Milton. Our team has:

• Connected with 110 local partners to assess urgent health needs and offer assistance.
• Prepared shipments of essential medicines, hygiene kits and relief supplies.
• Identified mental health needs in communities that have faced repeated hurricanes in recent years.
• Offered emergency funding for partner clinics to restore health services and repair storm-damaged facilities. 

We’re focusing on meeting immediate needs while supporting long-term recovery efforts. We’ll be here as long as it takes.
