"What's next?"

Former (fictional) president Jed Bartlet would ask this of his staff frequently on "The West Wing." Not always a simple question when it comes to running the United States of America — but all the same, one intended to keep the momentum of his team going. 

So as the actor and activist who played that former president on TV, I ask the same question of you now, friend: What's next when it comes to your support of one of the most important Senate races in the country?

My career as an actor spans decades — but so too does my time as an activist. From supporting the farm worker movement with Cesar Chavez in California to campaigning for Ted Kennedy's presidential campaign in Florida (yes, Florida!) to supporting Democratic Senate candidates, I've never been shy about getting involved and fighting for what's right. 

Fighting for what's right most usually demands articulating what is wrong. And Florida's GOP senator Rick Scott — who is beholden to Donald Trump — is absolutely wrong for Florida and our nation. A Republican majority in the Senate, with Donald Trump in the White House, is downright wrong and dangerous for our nation.

You know it as well as I do. Trump and Scott are beholden to an extreme ideology that attacks the heart of our nation — our freedom and democracy — while empowering and enriching themselves and their allies. Their agenda wouldn't just send our nation backward, but it would also cause untold harm.
