ADL Welcomes Decision by U.S. Treasury to Sanction Samidoun
In an important new step by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control in a joint action with Canada, the Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network has been designated as a sham charity that serves as an international fundraiser for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a U.S.-designated foreign terrorist organization.
ADL has shared intelligence about Samidoun’s activities with Congress and the Administration and has been highly engaged in pushing for government action. We will continue to advocate for oversight over organizations that claim to support humanitarian causes, but may be diverting funds to terrorist groups.
This government decision came after Oren Segal, VP of the ADL Center on Extremism, testified before the Ways and Means Committee and ADL briefed the administration about Samidoun, its rhetorical support for terror, and overlap with PFLP networks and propaganda.
ADL CEO Jonathan A. Greenblatt applauded the decision,
saying “This is an organization that has openly praised the Oct. 7 massacre in Israel and encourages engagement with a radical antisemitic, anti-Zionist social media channel that regularly features pro-Hamas propaganda and violent anti-Israel imagery. This organization should not have the ability to raise funds for terrorism in the United States or in any democracy.” He added that the Treasury action “will help to ensure that funds raised through the illicit activities of this sham organization do not reach the hands of terrorists overseas.”

Extremists Exploit Hurricanes to Advance Antisemitic Conspiracy Theories:
Right-wing extremists have been exploiting the devastation surrounding Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton to advance antisemitic and anti-Israel conspiracy theories claiming that federal disaster assistance has been slow or inadequate because they believe the U.S. is sending funds and personnel to Israel instead. And at least one far-right conspiracy theorist has been promoting the conspiracy theory that Jews are manipulating hurricanes to “destroy” the United States. Jewish Day Schools Respond to Antisemitism:
Since 10/7, Jewish students have been the victims of a steep rise in antisemitic incidents. Jewish day schools appear to be a safe harbor in this environment. ADL’s ‘From the Frontlines’ podcast did a deep dive into what Jewish students in day schools are experiencing and how well these schools are preparing their students and graduates to face a less welcoming world. No Hate in Nashville: In a win for fighting antisemitism and other forms of hate in the Southeast, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County
voted to pass municipal ordinances (building on ADL model language) to combat hate tactics. This is timely legislation, coming after extremist groups including Patriot Front and Goyim Defense League, held demonstrations in Nashville earlier this year. Ahead of those extremist incursions, ADL’s regional team and ADL Center on Extremism briefed local law enforcement and Jewish communal leaders on what was coming and how best to respond. This helped prevent violence and ensure a coordinated response.
