Hi there,

I should start by saying thank you. I know firsthand the power of the NDRC, because I was elected as the governor of Michigan with the support of this community in both 2018 and 2022.

The NDRC also invested all across the state. They — you — ran through the wall to help elect Democrats running for the state legislature and to help pass the constitutional amendment that created the Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission.

Thanks in large part to the support of this community, we now have a Democratic trifecta here in Michigan. And with this leadership, we’ve been able to pass pro-democracy legislation including the repeal of an antiquated 1931 abortion ban, the repeal of Michigan’s right-to-work law, and the expansion of our civil rights laws to include protections for the LGBTQ+ community.

But we’re not done. There’s so much more to do here in Michigan and all across the country — and the NDRC hasn’t stopped fighting to protect our fundamental freedoms. Right now, they are working tirelessly to help win critical races across the country, but they can’t do it without your help. Will you make a donation right now to help the NDRC elect Democracy Defenders across the country? [[link removed]]

I’m so proud of what we’ve been able to deliver for Michiganders. And I want to make this really clear, we've been able to do so much to protect our democracy because we were able to take redistricting out of the hands of politicians and give that power to a non-partisan commission.

Michigan is a clear example of how independent commissions can shield the redistricting process from partisan influence and draw maps that reflect the will of voters.

The work the NDRC is doing will not only have immediate and profound impacts on the lives of Americans across the country, but will also create fairer maps for years to come. And as my friend A.G. Eric Holder likes to say, when the maps are fair, Democrats do well.

I am ready to fight like hell to help elect fair maps champions across the country. If you're with me, then please consider making a donation right now to the NDRC. [[link removed]]

Let’s go win.

Thank you,

Gretchen Whitmer
Governor of Michigan
