** Sign Our Petition: Sanction Israeli Ministers Promoting Genocide and Extremism
------------------------------------------------------------
Dear John,
Last month, as world leaders convened in New York for the United Nations General Assembly, we took action to hold Israeli leaders accountable. We demanded that the Biden administration ([link removed]) , the Harris campaign ([link removed]) , and the Trump campaign ([link removed]) address the ongoing human rights abuses in Gaza and the West Bank.
MPAC called for immediate sanctions on Bezalel Smotrich, Israel’s Minister of Finance, and Itamar Ben Gvir, Israel’s Minister of National Security, under Executive Order 14115 ([link removed]) and the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act ([link removed]) for their roles in promoting extremist ideologies and supporting genocide against Palestinian civilians.
President Biden’s own national security team recommended that these ministers be sanctioned, but he refused. We are outraged by the President’s brazen rejection of his very own advisors’ recommendations to sanction these individuals for war crimes. This action undermines our core values and directly contradicts the call for accountability inherent to Executive Order 14115. We are now asking for community support to advance these efforts. Please join us by signing our petition, which calls on the President to impose sanctions and for the Harris and Trump campaigns to express their support for this much-needed course of action.
