Hi, it’s Scott, Tammy Baldwin’s Campaign Manager. We made a risky decision, and I thought you should hear about it from me.
Our right-wing opponent has been surging in the polls, to the point where he’s now taken the lead in this race for the very first time. Pundits have downgraded our race to a “Toss Up,” and even The Hill published that “the closest Senate race is in Wisconsin.”
The $71 million that Republicans have spent on ads in Wisconsin is what has made this race close. So when I learned Mitch McConnell’s super PAC launched a last-minute $24 million ad blitz to flip this seat red, I sounded the alarm.
Hovde and his allies left us no choice but to fight back. We couldn’t let them outspend us through Election Day. So after a lot of discussion with Tammy and the rest of the team, we decided to put even more money behind our campaign ads to counter these brutal attacks and set the record straight as voters across Wisconsin start to cast their ballots.
This was a tough call because there’s one problem: we didn’t have the funds in our October budget.
I know that this is a big risk. But we’re not going to win this race by playing it safe — not as Republicans continue to pummel us with attack ads against Tammy.
So now, I’m turning to this incredible grassroots team to help us close the deficit in our budget so we can keep these ads on the air — especially with our final FEC deadline looming.
Can I count on you to chip in what you can today to help us fight back against Republican attacks and keep our ads on the air? Every donation makes a difference.

Even though this was risky, there’s no greater reward than sending Tammy back to the Senate and keeping the majority out of the GOP’s hands. I’m grateful that I can count on you in moments like this.
