WHAT: Air, Land, Rock, Water: An Overview of CDR Pathways
WHEN: Friday, October 18, 10am PT WHERE: On Zoom! |
In this second webinar of a six-part series, experts will provide an overview of the primary ways to remove carbon from the atmosphere, both natural and engineered. These include direct air capture, soil carbon management, afforestation, biochar, ocean CDR, biomass carbon removal and storage, and enhanced rock weathering. The webinar will explore: - How much carbon each CDR method could potentially remove
- How permanently the removed carbon can be stored
- Scalability and cost of CDR
-
How CDR will impact communities and local ecosystems
- The unknowns and questions about each of these methods
We’ll foster co-learning between subject matter experts and stakeholders so that we can build the knowledge about CDR in California. Sign up to join our virtual event to learn more about carbon dioxide removal on October 18 at 10am PT!
This is the second webinar in a six-part series. The upcoming topics are: - October 18: The Primary Carbon Dioxide Removal Approaches, Natural and Engineered
-
November: Carbon Dioxide Removal and Communities (Part 1): What do communities think about Carbon Dioxide Removal? Addressing air quality, safety, local and wider impacts, and other issues.
- December: Carbon Dioxide Removal and Communities (Part 2): Community Benefits, Governance Models, Oversight and Co-Ownership
- January, 2025: Responsible Accounting/Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification
- February, 2025: CDR Policy Levers
Several CDR projects are already underway in California. Now, we need to ensure that we don’t repeat the harmful industrial mistakes of the past when developing these new projects. Local communities, especially economically disadvantaged communities and communities of color, must be involved early on to make sure these projects not only do no harm, but also provide meaningful benefits. Hope to see you on Zoom, California Environmental Voters |
