John,
Fox News is once again spreading Trump’s lies – even though they know they’re not true.
Even though Fox News received a memo saying there is “no funding connection between” the FEMA disaster fund and immigrant aid, they’re propping up Trump’s lie that the Biden administration “stole FEMA money” to give aid to undocumented immigrants.
This isn’t new, John. For years, Fox and other right-wing networks have been knowingly pushing dangerous disinformation campaigns and lies that directly led to the January 6th insurrection.
Remember the “Big Lie” and the Dominion lawsuit?
We’ll talk about why Fox News knowingly spreads conspiracies like this in a moment, but if you support COURIER’s efforts to call out Fox News and their lies, can you chip in $17 now? [[link removed]]
In 2022, the infamous Dominion defamation lawsuit against Fox revealed that both hosts and executives called 2020 election fraud claims “completely bs,” and said there was “NO evidence of fraud. None.”
Even though they knew they weren’t true, Fox News was running 24-7 coverage on Trump’s stolen election lies, riling up their audience of millions and eventually leading to the events of January 6.
If Fox News hosts know these are lies, why do they keep spreading them?
According to the Dominion lawsuit, Fox went all in on Trump’s election fraud claims to keep ratings and profits high — consequences to our democracy be damned.
As Rupert Murdoch said, “It is not red or blue, it is green.”
Unfortunately, John, the FEMA conspiracies are just the beginning. Fox News is already gearing up to spread more misinformation about election security in case of a Harris win in November. That could lead to another insurrection like we saw on January 6.
We need to be ready to fight back. COURIER reporters are working around the clock in our eleven battleground states to bring factual information to the news deserts where conspiracies thrive. We’re going to continue that work after Election Day, when a second “Big Lie” takes center stage.
Unlike Fox News , we’ll never be influenced by profits and clicks. We’re proud to provide this service for free in the states where it matters most.
