Most of us don’t have to look much further than our own neighborhood to see the power of unified action. From getting developers to back down on their plans to demolish historic sites to standing strong with our neighbors after a tragedy, the last few months have seen plenty of moments when New Yorkers have proved that we can achieve some incredible things when we all stand together.
I’ve been aware of what a people-powered movement can achieve for a long time. The first time I ever won an election, it was because I knocked on countless doors, talked to people across the district, and made sure that I was running with a large grassroots movement behind me. Because that’s the only way that real change happens.
