In a different world, today would have been the date of the 2020 Women for a New Los Angeles Luncheon, and we would have gathered to share stories, uplift one another, and celebrate the centennial of the 19th Amendment, a turning point for women's rights in America.
We may no longer be able to gather, but we can still share and uplift. And we can still make a difference:
“A year from now, when we reflect on 2020,
let it be with the full satisfaction that we stepped up and,
like those before us, made history."
Thanks to your calls and emails, and to the bold leadership of Council President Nury Martinez, Los Angeles City Council unanimously passed emergency tenant protections yesterday! Moving forward, Angelenos now have the right to take their landlords to court if they violate the city's eviction moratorium during the COVID-19 crisis.
Sign this petition to show your support for frontline port truck drivers who are facing extreme and preventable risks on the job.
Thank you for being a part of our family. And please save the date -- Friday, April 30, 2021 -- for the return of the Women for a New Los Angeles Luncheon.
Sincerely,
Stella T. Maloyan, Luncheon Co-Founder
& the Women for a New Los Angeles Team
