Democrat Colin Allred lands knockout blow on Ted Cruz
Ex-NFL player and Democratic Senate candidate Colin Allred savaged MAGA extremist and podcast bozo Ted Cruz on the debate stage last night, hitting the Texas Republican for peddling "angertainment" that profits off of outrageous lies about trans people, the border, Democrats, you name it. But Allred followed that up with a sober and striking comment about the radical anti-abortion laws that Cruz fervently supports, saying, "He wants you thinking about kids in bathrooms so you're not thinking about women in hospitals. Because it’s indefensible that we have Texas women being turned away from hospitals, bleeding out in cars, in waiting rooms, being found by their husbands." The Republican Party has unleashed an unimaginable nightmare upon many millions of women, and it's gratifying to see the very men responsible forced to publicly reckon with the consequences of their heinous actions. Other highlights include Allred hitting the Cruz for his border stunts ("Sen. Cruz treats our border communities like he's going on some sort of safari. He comes down, puts on his outdoor clothes and tries to look tough, then goes back to Washington and does nothing to help.") and his obsession with teen sports ("When Cruz starts talking about teen sports, you gotta watch out because the only position he ever played was left out. I’m not trying to be mean but sit this one out.") Time to send Flyin' Ted packing!

Greenpeace hit with awful lawsuit from Big Oil
Greenpeace: The oil companies behind the Dakota Access Pipeline are suing Greenpeace for $300 MILLION, wrongly blaming them for organizing the water protector protests at Standing Rock. Will you add your name to tell these greedy oil companies to drop their lawsuit?
Disaster loan program fully "exhausted" with Congress still out of town
The nation’s loan program for disaster survivors has fully exhausted its funding, the Biden administration announced Tuesday. Congress is solely responsible for greenlighting more funding, yet somehow back-to-back hurricanes were not enough of a reason for GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson to call the House back to town early. Without congressional action, the Small Business Administration can’t make new loan offers to people trying to rebuild businesses and homes hit by disasters like Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Johnson said it would be "premature" to approve more funding before states accurately assess the actual dollar amount needed. Perhaps Johnson is afraid that taking the initiative to help Americans in need would set a bad precedent, since he hasn't done *anything* in the time he's been in charge of the world's most powerful legislative body.
US warns Israel it may restrict military aid if Gaza humanitarian situation doesn't improve
The Biden administration has warned Israel that if the humanitarian situation in Gaza doesn't improve within the next 30 days, the US may restrict military assistance to Israel. In a letter Sunday to Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said that the US must continually assess under its own law whether Israel is “directly or indirectly” impeding the transport of US humanitarian assistance to Gaza. Blinken previously ignored findings from the US government that determined Israel was deliberately blocking aid to the Palestinians; Israel airstrikes have also hit aid convoys and aid centers at least eight times, killing 220 members of the UNRWA mission that oversees aid distribution in the Gaza Strip. 42,000 Palestinians have been killed since the war began; 55 have been killed and 329 people have been wounded in just the past few days, including patients burned alive in an Israeli strike on a makeshift tent hospital.

Sen. Bob Casey and price-gouger David McCormick clash on abortion in debate
Incumbent Democrat Bob Casey and his ultrawealthy opponent, David McCormick (yes, of McCormick Foods, aka the reason it costs five fricking dollars for a thing of dried basil) clashed on abortion during an otherwise tame debate, in which McCormick attempted to smear Casey as a "flip-flopper" for turning from an anti-abortion Democrat to a pro-choice Democrat after the fall of Roe v. Wade, voting to have the right to abortion enshrined at the national level. “We had a very clear choice at that moment, whether you're a citizen or a member of the United States Senate or a legislator of any kind, you had to make a decision. It’s ban abortion or not ban abortion. That was the choice before the country and I voted at that moment to restore those rights," said Casey. Of course, McCormick is a Republican, which means he has absolutely no concept of evolving on issues or responding to changing times or recognizing when you've made a mistake.
Trump claims Fox News "has totally lost its way" after the network announces it will interview Kamala Harris
Mr. Definitely Not Mad And Having A Good Time Actually blew his top on his personal social media network after hearing that Vice President Harris was going into enemy territory for a sit-down interview with Fox News' Bret Baier, writing that Baier was chosen because "he is considered to be ‘Fair & Balanced’" and too comfy with the "cocktail circuit Left." Meanwhile, Trump himself canceled an interview with the CNBC softball machine "Squawk Box," the second major cable news interview he's backed out of this month. Pretty clear who is on the back foot and who is in it to win it.

Video of Phoenix police using a Taser and punching deaf man with cerebral palsy under scrutiny
Tyron McAlpin was arrested by officers Benjamin Harris and Kyle Sue on Aug 19, 2024. But his arrest has only recently drawn national attention after one of his attorneys, Jesse Showalter, released police body camera video and surveillance footage from his arrest, which shows the police needlessly brutalizing a disabled Black man for refusing to obey their commands, which he of course could not hear because he is deaf. To add insult to injury, McAlpin was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of resisting arrest, both felonies, after reacting with hostility to being suddenly grabbed by the cops without warning.
John Thune doles out the money as he runs for Senate GOP leader
Senate Minority Whip John Thune of South Dakota is making his move for the role of Chief Progress Obstructor — also known as Senate Republican leader — coming in swinging with big bags of cash from his new super PAC, New Heights Action. He's injected nearly $10 million into various GOP Senate races and the Senate Leadership Fund. Guess it makes sense that Republican leaders are chosen by whomever gives out the most money, since that's also how their voting agenda and policy positions are determined.
Mark Robinson sues CNN as his hobbled campaign limps toward Election Day
Embattled GOP gubernatorial candidate and Hitler fanboy Mark Robinson has announced that he is going to sue CNN for $50 million over their stunning exposure of his very real posts on a hardcore porn forum, which included support for slavery and a declaration that he was a "Black Nazi." If you think Robinson is mad now, just wait until we get to the discovery portion of a trial and all his dirty laundry gets aired in a court of law.
Trump declares himself "father of IVF" at town hall with all-female audience
The first successful in vitro fertilization was in 1978, and the groundbreaking treatment has been used by millions of Americans in the decades since, but those minor details didn't stop the MAGA cult leader from telling an audience full of women with a straight face that he, Donald J. Trump, is actually the "father of IVF." The convicted felon is doing damage control, of course, because his own party has waged an all-out assault on reproductive choice and bodily autonomy, and IVF has been caught in the incredibly stupid crosshairs. Can't wait to see what the con man takes credit for tomorrow.
