Abdul Rahman, 15, is one of the few Palestinian children who has been able to evacuate Gaza for specialized care since the escalation of war last October. Earlier this year, Abdul nearly lost his leg during an Israeli airstrike. Now, he is receiving comprehensive surgery, daily physiotherapy, and mental health support at Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)’s reconstructive surgery hospital in Amman, Jordan.
Even as we all continue to grieve the enormous loss of life and continued violence in Gaza and Israel, MSF continues to care for our patients. Right now, over 700 MSF staff throughout Gaza are performing lifesaving surgeries for people injured in bombings, providing clean drinking water to people who have been forced from their homes, delivering mental health support for children, and much more.
