Our hope and collective strength are our way to make a difference

Dear John,

I'm a spectator of a world on fire. Across Lebanon, Sudan, Ukraine, Myanmar, and so many other places, I watch with grief as conflicts, violence and injustice shatter homes and futures. In moments like these, I find myself quite overwhelmed. But it is also in these moments that I am reminded of our collective strength to make a difference!

Your support and solidarity equip me with the life-affirming warmth of hope and in times like these, I’m reminded that it is hope that must carry us forward.

Our hope propels our advocacy – it has the power to transform our sorrow into strength, and our solidarity into action. Our hope is the determination to raise our voices even when it’s difficult; to stand by the people that need our support; and continue to build a compassionate world where peace is possible.

Add your voice to help build a world of lasting peace

Our teams at UNHCR are on the frontlines of these crises, providing shelter, safety and hope away from home to millions of displaced people. But we can’t do this vital work alone. We need your solidarity and the continued support of governments stepping up with bold, unwavering commitments.

Join UNHCR’s global call for action and solidarity, calling for continued and increased global solidarity and funding for refugees across the world and we will deliver your call for action and solidarity at the December Pledging Conference organized by UNHCR – a moment where governments come together to pledge their financial support for refugees throughout 2025.

I hope our advocacy and support can help build a future world of lasting peace.

In solidarity,

Madelene Bernard
