Dear John,
Atlas Network partner Institute for Market Economics (IME) in Sofia, Bulgaria, has already had an award-winning year.
In May, they were honored with the 2024 Europe Liberty Award for their work reducing government power.
Now, they’ve been nominated for the 2024 Templeton Freedom Award.
IME’s key achievement has been reforming the office of the prosecutor general, whose immunity from accountability and ability to act above the law was a long-standing relic of the Soviet era.
In December 2023, the Bulgarian National Assembly passed an IME proposal to amend the constitution and finally curtail the powers of these unelected officials.
IME first introduced their reforms in 2019, with Atlas Network supporting their journey with grant funding in 2018 and 2020.
The Templeton Freedom Award is Atlas Network’s most prestigious award. Each year, the $100,000 prize is given to the partner who delivers the most exceptional and innovative contributions advancing freedom and free enterprise.
Can IME keep up the momentum and take home another award in 2024?
