Hi John,
n the Arctic, young ice seals are dying from starvation and strandings.
Older seals are swimming longer distances to find food, leaving their yearlings hungry and exposed to predators.
And the state of Alaska wants crucial protections taken away from bearded and ringed seals.
The Center for Biological Diversity will keep fighting for these seals. Please help now by giving to the Saving Life on Earth Fund.

Bearded and ringed seals are protected by the Endangered Species Act.
But their Arctic habitat has to be safeguarded, too — or oil drilling and bottom trawling will destroy the habitat they need to survive.
For too long government officials and wildlife agencies have caved to industry, putting profits over wildlife and risking the future of biodiversity.
Alaska wants the money from Big Oil and the industrial fishing industry. So it went to court to take away habitat protection from seals — and sadly a federal judge agreed.
From the moment they're born, Arctic seal pups depend on ice. Lack of ice makes it harder for many seals to find food and raise their young.
Their icy home is melting around them, yet Alaska says the protection that was just taken away covers too much ground.
The state is dead wrong. Seals need to be protected wherever they can find ice.
A looming extinction crisis has nearly a million species fighting for survival — and Arctic animals are truly on the front lines.
To turn back the extinction crisis and save the wildlife we love, we must also protect the wild places they live before it's too late.
With your help we'll continue to fight for Arctic seals and other species under urgent threat.
Please give today to the Saving Life on Earth Fund.
