John,

It's no secret that the Trump administration caters to Big Oil & Gas.

But that doesn't make its current brazen push to lease public lands for dirty energy development during an oil glut and a global health crisis any less outrageous. Even lands near the iconic Arches National Park are up for grabs.

They think we won’t notice right now. But they’re wrong.

Demand that the Bureau of Land Management suspend leasing of public lands for dirty energy development during the pandemic!

The latest push to sell off drilling and fracking rights near national monuments – including near the Arches and Canyonlands National Parks in Utah – is even more insidious than usual. The regular, legally required comment period practices, including public hearings, aren’t possible during the coronavirus pandemic, and internet access in many impacted communities is limited. But that isn't slowing this administration down.

We don’t even need the energy, as the unprecedented current oil glut demonstrates – with oil tankers across the globe unable to offload their cargo. So why are we gambling on permanent damage to treasured vistas, indigenous historical and cultural sites, wildlife, and local air and water quality?

The right thing to do is to suspend ALL proposed lease sales until the public can safely and meaningfully participate in the decisions that impact public lands. Join us in demanding it!

Trump’s intention is clear: exploit public lands so that the industry can profit, while emissions continue to wreck the climate, pollute our air and poison our water. We can’t let these beautiful and sacred places be ruined for the sake of Big Oil & Gas profits!

Drilling and fracking are NOT acceptable on our public lands, around our national parks or anywhere across the country.

That’s why we’re standing with over a dozen other organizations to stop Trump’s plan to lease away our public lands while he thinks no one is looking. We won’t let him get away with it. Are you with us?
