Have you had a chance to say thank you to the educators in your life who are making an impact in the lives of LGBTQ students?

It’s the Friday of Teacher Appreciation Week, John – have you had a chance to say thank you to the educators in your life who are making an impact in the lives of LGBTQ students?

All this week, hundreds of GLSEN supporters have been adding their names to our “Thank a Teacher” card, sharing sweet messages of gratitude and thanks. Here are a few of our favorites:

Thank you… for always being a beacon of light and hope in our student's lives. You are an inspiration for all people to continuously live with an open-mind and full heart. Your hard work and dedication to our LGBTQ+ students (and all students) is truly admirable. You change lives every single day and I am proud to work alongside you!

Thank you for inspiring me to be a better teacher and remember to support and be mindful of the needs of ALL the students at my site.  You encourage me to be a better teacher and I am thankful.

Thank you for becoming the sponsor for our club and for being willing to assist us. Thank you for lending a listening ear to any of us whenever we needed it. You constantly support us and spend so much time doing what you can for us. Thank you.

It’s not too late for you to add your name too! Sign now to thank educators across the country who are supporting and protecting LGBTQ students.

And after you’ve signed our card, maybe you can take it one step further!

Think about the educators that have made a difference in your life or in the life of someone you love – and send them a message too. Tell them that you’re grateful for their work to support and enrich students, that you see what a difference they make in the lives of young people – and that their selfless work does not go unnoticed.

Especially now, as we are all experiencing physical distance, let’s do what we can to show our fearless educators that we see them, we love them and we support them.

They deserve it.

P.S. Today at 4 ET, we’re teaming up with HRC to honor the LGBTQ graduating Class of 2020 with a virtual graduation ceremony! Our executive director Eliza Byard will address the graduates, and GLSEN student leaders will be speaking too. If you have LGBTQ students who you’d like to help honor today, sign up before it’s too late – and then plan to watch the livestream on GLSEN’s Facebook page.
