Secretary of State Adrian Fontes revealed that more than 218,000 voters were incorrectly recorded as having provided proof of citizenship, which is required to vote in state and local elections. This number is more than doubled from what was originally estimated.
Gina Swoboda, Chair of the Arizona Republican Party, rightly stated, "Secretary of State Adrian Fontes has repeatedly demonstrated a complete inability to execute the core functions of his position. The public, impacted stakeholders, and the Arizona Supreme Court were misled about the extent of the issue and its effect on Arizona’s voter registration records."
