In a naked ploy to try to distance President Trump from Russia's
interference in the 2016 elections, yesterday the Department of
Justice officially asked a federal judge to drop all charges
against Michael Flynn.

Let's be clear -- Flynn pled GUILTY in 2017 to lying to the FBI
about his contacts with Russian officials. Absolutely nothing has
happened to change that fact -- or make it less damaging.

Absolutely nothing has happened to change that fact -- or make it

Attorney General Barr's request for a 'dismissal' does not
exonerate Flynn. What it does do is shine a spotlight on Bill
Barr's abuse of office. The Attorney General's willingness to
participate in this scheme and undermine the credibility of our
Justice Department represents the worst politicization of that
office in our history.

This outrageous decision from the Attorney General sends the
terrible signal that it's acceptable to lie to and mislead the
FBI in an investigation that impacts our national security.

The American people have already seen that Trump is willing to
exploit America's relationships with foreign countries in order
to promote his own political interests. The testimony we heard
during the impeachment investigation made that chillingly clear.

But, Bill Barr's willingness to put the weight and credibility
of the Justice Department on the line to advance Trump's personal
and political agendas sends us into very dangerous waters.

We need to stand against this abuse of office.
