Everywhere we go, when we talk about the challenge of our district, we hear the same thing: “Donald Trump’s on the ballot, you’ll be fine.”

But friend, that ignores two key realities:

1.) Our district is really more like Eastern, Eastern Iowa than Chicago. In fact, elections analysts at the Daily Kos confirmed that Eric is the only Democrat in Illinois facing a difficult re-election. They note that despite this being a Democratic district, it has slowly been "trending to the right."

2.) Our opponent, Joe McGraw, actually performed *better* than Donald Trump on the March primary ballot. Trump won this district in both 2016 and 2020, so if McGraw outperforms him in three weeks as well, that could mean trouble.

There’s a reason this seat is one of the NRCC’s top targets this cycle. National Republicans are spending millions to unseat Eric. As a freshman member, he's the most vulnerable he’ll ever be, which means we need to close out the election strong.
