Dear John,
In this week's newsletter, hosting a roundtable on Gotion's ties to the CCP, my stops around the 16th District, and my work in DC. If you need help with federal agencies, please reach out to one of my offices listed at the bottom of the newsletter.
The Gotion Roundtable in Manteno
I held a roundtable in Manteno, Illinois with the Chairman of the Select Committee on the CCP, John Moolenaar, Representative Baird, and community stakeholders to discuss the implications of Gotion's ties to the Chinese Communist Party. Gotion's link to slave labor and the battery plant's potential threats to U.S. national security should concern every American, especially those in the surrounding area of where the proposed plants would operate in Illinois.
I appreciate all the concerned citizens who attended to share their concerns and bring greater attention to the dangers of Gotion and the CCP.

Stopping by Dunlap Middle School
Dunlap Middle School was recently acknowledged as 1 of 18 Illinois schools to be designated a Blue Ribbon School. Congratulations to Principal Johnson and all the staff on earning this prestigious award!
I recently had the privilege of speaking to students at the school about my role in Congress and how our government works.
Thanks to Mrs. Jordan for having me, and to the students for the fantastic questions!
Harvest Season at Hultine Farms
I enjoyed visiting with the Vice President of the Illinois Farm Bureau, Evan Hultine, to talk about agriculture issues and check in on how his harvest was coming along.
I was honored to receive the Illinois Farm Bureau’s Friend of Agriculture Award from Evan during my visit!
2024 Walk to End Alzheimer's
Last Saturday, I joined over 750 fellow Peorians supporting and participating in the 2024 Walk to End Alzheimer’s! I’ve been proud to introduce legislation such as the Comprehensive Care for Alzheimer’s Act and the CHANGE Act to help support patients, families and caregivers dealing with Alzheimer’s.
Thanks to the Alzheimer’s Association and all the volunteers for putting on another outstanding event this year!
Sounding the Alarm on Temu
Temu and their parent company PDD’s ties to the Chinese Communist Party should concern every American about data exploitation. Chairman Mike Turner and I are leading the House Intelligence Committee to sound the alarm about growing national security and personal data concerns around CCP-linked Temu.
You can read the full letter below or on my website here.

Visiting Elite Community Outreach
Thanks to Carl Cannon, Sheriff Watkins, and the staff at Elite Community Outreach for taking time to meet with me at their new location to discuss the work they do to help youth in the Peoria area!
Elite Community Outreach is making a positive impact in our schools and communities with their programs that create economic opportunities and help keep students in the classroom.
Ways and Means Hearing on TANF
As Chair of the Ways and Means Work and Welfare Subcommittee, we’ve worked over the past two years to identify challenges in the TANF program, including fraud and abuse. By reforming TANF and restoring accountability, we can better support individuals who need help and give them the tools to succeed in the workforce.
Watch my remarks from the hearing below:
Meeting with the Illinois Manufacturers' Association
I enjoyed visiting with the Illinois Manufacturers' Association to talk about strengthening our supply chain, working to expand trade, and tax policies that will incentivize job creation in the US.
Manufacturing is vital to Illinois' economic health, providing good paying jobs to over 700,000 Illinoisans.
One More Thing: Keep an Eye Out for Farm Equipment on the Roads!
Between 2018 and 2022 there were over 1,200 accidents on the road involving farm equipment.
As harvest season is in full swing this year, make sure to protect yourself and our farmers by driving safely and watching out for farm equipment leaving and entering fields, and on the road!
It is a privilege to serve the constituents of Illinois' 16th Congressional District. Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter. Please do not hesitate to reach out to one of my offices if we can ever be of assistance.
Sincerely,
Darin LaHood Member of Congress
