An important update from Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington

John -

Earlier this week, we asked CREW supporters to help us reach our $10,000 match goal for Giving Tuesday Now. Hundreds of you contributed, and we ended up exceeding our match goal!

Thank you to everyone who donated and helped us reach our goal. We know this is a tough time for many people (and for our country), and we truly appreciate the outpouring of support for our anti-corruption work.

One of CREW’s top priorities over the last few months has been ensuring strong, independent oversight of the stimulus spending and pandemic response. We should never have to wonder whether taxpayer dollars are going where they’re most needed, or whether the president and his family and allies are profiteering—especially during a crisis. The President’s nonstop efforts to oppose and undercut any independent oversight reinforces how important real checks and balances are.

In the coming weeks, Congress is likely to take further action on stimulus and pandemic response legislation, and they need to know that the American people are demanding strong oversight measures. Email your members of Congress now and demand action for better oversight.

It seems that every day we hear about another questionable contract given to a company with connections to the Trump administration, or PPE deliveries being seized by FEMA, or whistleblowers warning of cronyism, or Jared Kushner botching recovery efforts. As a country, we cannot let this corruption go unchecked and unaccounted for. We need oversight measures, including protections for whistleblowers, measures to prevent profiteering, and strong Congressional oversight provisions. Lack of oversight has already been deadly.

Email Congress now and let them know: the American people are demanding oversight.

Thank you, again, for the outpouring of support.
