Hi John,
As we witness the devastating impacts of the recent hurricanes on the Southeast, my heart goes out to all the families affected, especially those pregnant moms now facing immense uncertainties. Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton have left many without housing, transportation, and employment, creating turmoil that they never imagined facing.
For pregnant moms right now, the hurricanes have brought not just material loss, but a wave of emotional turmoil. Many who were not considering abortion may now see it as their only option, due to the uncertainties in their lives after the storms. So, our assignment is clear: to offer hope and a path forward where they can rebuild their lives and choose life for their preborn child.
Our Continuum of Care team is actively mobilizing resources across North Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida to assist those in crisis. Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you during the Mother’s Day diaper drive, we've positioned our Charlotte and Raleigh centers as vital hubs for distributing baby supplies in western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee.
We're also collaborating with partners like Save the Storks and local pregnancy centers to reach and support mothers seeking abortions in these devastated regions. Our telecare services in Florida, which were strengthened after Hurricane Ian in 2022, are ready to respond to the evolving needs. After Ian, many pregnancy centers were closed for an extended period, and we filled the gap, providing life-affirming care for several months until those centers could reopen.
While we expect call volume to decrease in the immediate aftermath of the storms because of power, internet, and phone outages, we anticipate a rise in call volume as critical utilities are restored.
If you or someone you know has been affected by these storms, please reach out to us. We are here to provide the support and resources needed to navigate these challenging times.
Thank you for being a part of this ongoing mission, even as it evolves to meet the needs arising in the wake of these recent hurricanes. Please know that your prayers and support allow us to bring life-affirming care to moms and families in crisis right now.
God bless you!
