Dear John,
In Congress, I am committed to fighting to make sure our communities have access to the federal resources that they need. I was proud to deliver $17,037,217 for 15 local projects throughout the Inland Empire this year.
Here’s a look at six community improvement projects this funding will support:
$875,424 for the Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council’s Skyland Ranch Project
Girl Scouts teach our young women and girls vital skills and values that will positively shape their lives. I am proud that the funding I helped secure will go toward expanding and repairing Camp Skyland Ranch’s Environmental Learning Lab, which houses their environmental education program and expand their spaces for additional programming.
$850,000 for the City of San Bernardino’s Nicholson Community Center Restoration
Our community's support for one another makes the Inland Empire a great place to live. I am proud that this funding will be used to renovate and restore the Nicholson Community Center to include access to health care, a food pantry, after school programs and access to substance abuse prevention and mental health programs.
$1,000,000 for the San Bernardino County’s Glen Helen Regional Park Playground Expansion
As a parent, I know the importance of having safe spaces where children in our community can play. I am proud that the funding I helped secure for the Glen Helen Regional Park playground will rehabilitate and greatly improve the children’s play area, address equipment safety, restore structural integrity and add a picnic shelter at the playground.
$500,000 for the The Blessing Center’s Hannah’s Village
The Blessing Center’s Hannah’s Village in Redlands has changed the lives of countless at-risk women and children in the Inland Empire community. I am proud that the funding I secured will be used for improvements of the center’s current transitional housing program, constructing 26 additional living spaces for up to 30 new mothers and nearly 70 homeless children.
$2,600,000 for the San Bernardino County Housing Authority’s Arrowhead Grove Community Resource Center
As we navigate the housing crisis in the Inland Empire, it is crucial that vulnerable communities have access to support services like counseling, job training, health services and child care to help them get back on their feet and secure housing. I am proud that the funding I secured will help expand access to supportive services focused on health, wellness, housing stability services and economic self-sufficiency for residents of Arrowhead Grove in San Bernardino.
$1,666,279 for the Neighborhood Partnership Housing Services’ Affordable Housing Development and Preservation Program
Making housing affordable for our community is a top priority for me in Congress. With this funding, the Neighborhood Partnership Housing Services will be able to upgrade essential infrastructure like plumbing, roofing and energy-efficient windows while adding sustainable features like solar panels and tankless water heaters. This will help maintain safe, affordable housing while improving energy efficiency and reducing costs for residents.
From our public parks and playgrounds to our community resource centers and homeless shelters, I am proud to secure this critical funding for our community, and I'll continue to deliver investments that will improve the Inland Empire community.
Thanks,
Pete Aguilar
