Here’s why these county commissioner races matter: 1️⃣ Colorado remains one of the largest oil and gas producers in the nation. With thousands of wells across the state, Colorado ranks as the fourth-largest oil-producing state in the U.S., contributing nearly 4% of the nation’s total crude output. County commissioners hold significant power over whether new drilling projects are approved or blocked, making these elections critical. Decisions made here will have an impact nationwide. 2️⃣ Colorado may be blue, but fossil fuel money still runs deep. Despite the state's Democratic leadership, Governor Jared Polis has been reluctant to directly challenge the fossil fuel industry. That’s why we must elect local leaders like Caitlin, Steven, and Naomi; they’re ready to hold corporate polluters accountable and push for the bold climate action that state leadership has been hesitant to deliver. 3️⃣ It’s people power vs. Big Oil. Our endorsed climate champions have rejected fossil fuel donations, relying instead on grassroots support.
