| The Department of Labor’s most recent report on inflation shows that prices for basic needs have risen by 2.4% since last September. Many are highlighting this as “the lowest increase in three years.”
But these types of headlines hide the fact that inflation rose faster than experts expected and that “core inflation” — a more reliable measure of price increases — actually rose 3.3%.
