Notification of Recently Issued Determination Letter

You are receiving this email because you have signed up to be notified when the Regulatory Compliance Division of the Office of the Governor commences a review of a rule or issues a determination letter on a rule under review. Established pursuant to Subchapter C, Chapter 57, Texas Occupations Code, the Regulatory Compliance Division conducts an independent review of certain state agencies’ rules that affect market competition to assess their consistency with state policy as clearly articulated by the Legislature in state statute.

The Regulatory Compliance Division has recently issued a determination letter for the following rules:

  • Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, Title 43 Texas Administrative Code §§215.102, 215.120, 215.122, 215.124, 215.133, 215.138, 215.140, 215.143, 215.150, 215.151, 215.152, 215.154, 215.155, 215.156, 215.157, 215.158, 215.162, 217.5, 217.8, 217.74, and 217.86 (RCD Rule Review #2024-006)

The division has approved the proposed rules which generally implement changes enacted by the 88th Legislature pursuant to House Bill 718 relating to the issuance of temporary tags, Senate Bill 224 relating to recordkeeping and record inspection requirements to detect catalytic converter theft and fraud, House Bill 3297 relating to the elimination of required vehicle safety inspections, and to modify rule language to be consistent with the department’s current practices, including the use of records or electronic systems.
