Dear Newsletter Readers
Early voting has started and we have received numerous requests for guidance on candidates and the two ballot propositions.
Federal
It goes without saying (but we will) that the Teton County Democrats endorse Kamala Harris for President. However, Please do vote the entire ballot, as your voice matters! Did you know that precinct committee officer allocation is determined by the number of people who vote for the party's candidate in the US Congress Race? While it is highly unlikely that El Cameron can defeat Harriet Hageman, it is still important to cast your vote for this highly principled candidate. Moreover, and more importantly:
Wyoming law defines a major political party as an “organization whose candidate for any one of the offices of the United States house of representatives, governor or secretary of state, received not less than ten percent of the total votes cast for that office in the most recent general election.”
Since neither the governor nor the secretary of state are on the ballot this election, that status will come down to one candidate — Kyle “El” Cameron, who is running as a Democrat against U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman for Wyoming’s lone U.S. House seat.
In addition, please vote for Scott Morrow another true patriot offering Wyoming voters an alternative to Dr. Barrasso (who has apparently forgotten to uphold his Hippocratic Oath).
The Rest of the Ballot
State
This year, there are no contested races, as our state representatives up for re-election are running unopposed. However, go ahead and vote for our wonderful Dems! They deserve to know we support them wholeheartedly.
County
Two excellent Dems in this race: Len Carlman and Natalia Macker.
Town
Mayoral Race
Both candidates running for Mayor are Democrats: Jessica Sell Chambers and Arne Jorgensen. You can read more about them in our next newsletter, or on our website: ** 2024 Candidates ([link removed])
.
Town Council
While this is a nonpartisan race, there are two Democrats running: Kevin Regan and Perri Stern, whom we profiled in the most recent newsletter. Additional info on our website, as well.
Nonpartisan Offices
Our recommendations for the Teton County School Board and St. John's Health Board are nonpartisan: Betsy Carlin, Kate Mead and Jerry Bosch for the School Board; Bruce Hayse, Bill Hoglund, Jim Hunt and Evan Jones for the Hospital Board.
Ballot Propositions
We recommend voting For both ballot prepositions.
State of Wyoming Constitutional Amendment A
Both our Teton County Democratic and Republican state legislators supported its passage.
This Amendment will finally allow a different tax rate for primary residence owners.
Proposition 1 - Special Purpose Excise Tax (SPET) for Justice Center
Our current courthouse is an accident waiting to happen and must be replaced. Financing this large expenditure via a SPET is far preferable to borrowing money (and paying interest) to the State.
