Together, we can protect science from this attack.

EDF supporters have proven that when we speak out together, we are a powerful force for good.

In the midst of an unprecedented pandemic, EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler unleashed a proposal that could potentially put studies related to coronaviruses at risk of being cast aside – and gave the public and public health professionals only 30 days to weigh in.

EDF supporters responded by joining together and flooding EPA with nearly 15,000 messages calling on them to halt this attack and give the experts currently focused on the pandemic more time to add their input.

They responded by extending the deadline by one month, until May 18th. It’s a start – but not enough.

Take action: Stand with us – and your fellow EDF supporters – and call for the proposal to be suspended until our national health emergency has ended.

Here are the details:

This proposal expands Wheeler’s effort to restrict EPA’s use of science when setting public health protections. It would effectively bar EPA’s use of scientific studies when underlying data (like private health details) aren’t publicly available.

Thousands of widely accepted studies that support limits on toxic chemicals and pollution could be cast aside, undermining safeguards for our families and letting polluters off the hook.

And public health experts and scientists, whose input on this proposal will be crucial, are facing extreme demands in responding to this unprecedented national health emergency. Many of them won’t be able to sufficiently respond before the arbitrary deadline.

This is your chance to add your voice to thousands of others and join a chorus supporting public health professionals and defending the science that keeps Americans safe.

Join tens of thousands of your fellow EDF supporters today, and tell EPA to suspend or withdraw this attack on public health.

Thank you for standing with us,
