John — The most baldly political high court in America isn’t the Trump-appointed group in Washington DC. It’s the far-right North Carolina Supreme Court that paved the way for radically gerrymandered maps and recently delayed our ballots to help Trump.

And this Election Day, Republicans have the chance to move our state’s highest court even further to the right. Justice Allison Riggs, one of the few on the court we can trust to rule with fairness and integrity, is up against a GOP-backed judge trying to take her seat.

Justice Riggs was appointed to the NC Supreme Court by Governor Roy Cooper after 14 years as a civil rights litigator and a long career spent fighting for equal justice. She has proudly and faithfully served as the youngest woman on our state’s highest court.

Justice Allison Riggs serves all North Carolinians, without fear or favor. She’s who we want on the bench as some of our state’s biggest cases are decided.

But judicial elections like hers often go overlooked and underfunded. And Justice Riggs is locked in a tight race against yet another GOP lackey who could cast the deciding vote on cases related to our elections, schools, and reproductive freedom.
