Folks, Senator Mark Warner here with an important update about the 2024 elections.
I want to talk to you directly about what’s at stake this November, and how Republicans could pull off a win in Virginia. But first, I have to ask: Will you pitch in whatever you can to my friend of 40+ years and colleague Tim Kaine’s re-election campaign before his final FEC deadline? He’s counting on supporters like you to help hold onto his seat and our Democratic Senate majority.
When I was running for re-election to the Senate in 2014, a lot of folks were complacent about the race. They essentially said: Well, Mark’s an incumbent, Barack Obama has won VA twice now, Tim Kaine was just elected two years ago…we don’t need to worry about Virginia.
They were dead wrong. I won that race by just 0.81% of the vote — it was a REALLY close call.
Since then, with two Democrats representing Virginia in the Senate, and during our recent years with a Democratic majority, we’ve been able to accomplish so much. From the American Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Act, to lowering prescription drug prices, to cutting child poverty in half, to making actual progress on gun violence prevention.
In 21 days, all of that is at stake.
And I’ll be honest with you right now: I’m really worried that folks are getting complacent — just like they did with my race in 2014, and just like far too many people did in 2016.
We can’t afford complacency, we can’t afford a GOP majority in the Senate, and we definitely can’t afford Donald Trump and JD Vance in the White House.
Tim Kaine’s statewide GOTV program in Virginia is trying to prevent all of that from happening. His team is working around the clock to make sure we get record numbers of voters to the polls for his own re-election, for our Democratic House candidates, and for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.
But he needs your help — so I’m coming to you today to ask: Will you pitch in whatever you can to Tim’s campaign? His team tells me that the average online donation is $29.
The final FEC deadline of 2024 is tomorrow at midnight, so now is a really important time to donate. You can contribute at this link or through the buttons below:
