I'm writing to urgently ask for your help. I know the COVID-19 crisis has taken its toll on each one of us, but I'm absolutely heartsick about the mothers and families I visited last year in South Sudan who could be decimated by an outbreak, unless we intervene now.
Your donation will provide lifesaving aid wherever the need is greatest.
Weakened after decades of civil war, floods and other natural disasters, South Sudan is now facing the threat of COVID-19. For years, it has struggled with a severe shortage of health workers and medical facilities, most of which were damaged or destroyed during wartime.
Make no mistake, John: An outbreak of COVID-19 could devastate entire communities that have worked so hard to rebuild their lives and restore peace.
IRC is already on the ground in crisis zones like South Sudan, Yemen and Syria, providing vital support to families in hard-to-reach areas. But stopping this virus in its tracks will require all of us working together and supporting one another through this pandemic.
