Dear Educators,
I don’t know how you do it!
I don’t know how, as teachers, you juggle all of your duties in a given school day. You serve as mentor, counselor, referee, motivator—in a word, entrepreneur.
During normal times, the demands on your time are constant and unrelenting. Yet you are present for students when they need you most.
Since school buildings have been closed, the demands on your time have been especially difficult. You’ve been called to meet an unprecedented challenge, and despite not always having been given the tools you need, you’ve answered that call with remarkable dedication and devotion to your students and their families.
As teachers of civics, history, and social studies, you are giving our nation an example of what it means to build civil society.
I don’t know exactly how you’ve managed to do this, but what you do every day in teaching America’s young people is an inspiration to my colleagues at the Bill of Rights Institute and me.
For that reason, we thank you for your service to your communities and the cause of strong civic and history education. As we conclude Teacher Appreciation Week, we honor your work and look forward to continuing throughout the year’s end to work together.
Please join me in applauding all the outstanding teachers who were nominated for their entrepreneurial spirit during these challenging times, and especially our #BRIThankATeacher finalists below.

@lovgov was nominated by Ms Lombardo (@MsLambo312) (and others!) on Twitter – “It’s one thing to teach your own but another to teach others’ students. She really has stepped up to help instructors and collegeboard. The AP Gov groups would not be happening without her, so I echo the sentiments of appreciation for @lovgov. #BRIThankATeacher”

@MsEisenband was one of a number to send in a nomination for @socialstudiesTX on Twitter – "No one deserves more thanks than @socialstudiestx. He has singlehandedly done so much to create an online PLN, which has been indispensable for my own teaching and I’m sure many others’. #BRIThankATeacher"

Jessica Culver nominated Ms. Amy Caldwell with a lovely video on Facebook. "Librarians are teachers, too!" and Miss Caldwell is sending out tons of resources to her students to keep them engaged without everything that is going on.
