Did you know, in 1992 bull riding was effectively banned in Pittsburgh?

The city was the only locality in Pennsylvania that had a ban until the final hours of state budget negotiations this July when unnamed state legislators entered a provision overriding local legislation banning rodeos.

Now, there is a bull riding show on the books at PPG Paints Arena this upcoming January. Before then, though, a senator is trying to repeal the preemption ([link removed]) , restoring the city's powers to enforce a ban.

Also, PublicSource journalists spend countless hours with individuals and communities, uncovering complex stories brimming with powerful voices. To highlight those, we’re launching Quote Source, a one-stop-shop for the zippiest quotes in our stories. Check it out. ([link removed])
