Yesterday, GOP Speaker Mike Johnson came to our district for a rally alongside my opponent, Ken Calvert, just a day after Trump's rally here in the Coachella Valley.

The fact that Calvert is openly camaigning with a man widely considered the most anti-LGBTQ+ Speaker in US History – to a district with one of the largest LGBTQ+ communities in the nation – isn’t just tone deaf, it’s insulting.

Just take a look at Johnson’s record:

  • He’s on record supporting the criminalization of sexual acts between consenting LGBTQ+ adults.

  • He previously worked with an organization that pushed so-called conversion therapy.

  • He claimed that the ‘homosexual agenda’ will destroy society and likened being LGBTQ+ to pedophilia and bestiality. Really.
It’s unfortunate that Calvert continues to align himself with the worst and most hateful parts of the Republican Party. But this is exactly who he is, and has been, for his past three decades in Congress.

Ballots are now in the hands of voters across CA-41, and it's never been more important to send a message that we reject the hate and division that Calvert continues to embrace.
