Team, in 2018, I pledged that I’d keep digging until we got to the bottom of the Trump White House’s shameful confirmation process for Justice Kavanaugh.

Well, I did. And I’ve released the report.

It reveals that the supplemental background investigation ordered by the White House was a sham. It was directed and controlled by the Trump White House to provide political cover to Senate Republicans and put Judge Kavanaugh back on track to confirmation. Here’s how:

You might remember hearing that the White House set up an FBI tip line for the Kavanaugh inquiry.

They didn’t.

There was NO dedicated tip line. The public had to use an already existing portal where more than 4,500 messages related to Kavanaugh were submitted. Guess where those tips went? They were all delivered – uninvestigated – to the White House, and they died there.

You might remember that Republican senators said that there was “no corroborating evidence” for the claims made against Justice Kavanaugh.

The White House told the FBI to only look for direct, NOT corroborating, evidence.

The senators who thought the FBI investigation was “by the book” were misled. There was no “book” because there are no standard procedures for such an investigation.

It was all a sham. The Trump White House thwarted a proper FBI investigation of the allegations against Kavanaugh. The Trump White House denied senators the information we needed to fulfill our constitutional duties. Now, Kavanaugh is on the Supreme Court with a lifetime term.

But we can take action to prevent anything like this from happening again. There’s an important election coming up, and this report is a reminder of the stakes for our country. If Donald Trump ends up back in charge and Republicans take back the Senate, the Supreme Court will jump further off the rails. I hope you will join me in doing everything possible to prevent that outcome at the ballot box by electing a President Harris and a Democratic Senate.
