ABA Backs Down Following WILL Legal Complaint!

The American Bar Association removed two racial quotas from its Judicial Clerkship Program following a Title VI complaint and a judicial misconduct complaint filed by WILL earlier this year.

The Quotes: WILL Associate Counsel, Skylar Croy, stated, “All law students deserve an equal shot to compete for prestigious post-law school employment. No one should assess them based on the color of their skin—especially not the ABA and especially not judges. Instead, they should be considered based on their individual talents and knowledge of the law. We will continue to challenge race-based programs to reach WILL’s goal of complete race neutrality.” 

Milwaukee Parents Have Had Enough with MPS!

Milwaukee parent and WILL client, Charlene Abughrin, stated, No discipline, no consequences. What are we teaching our kids?”  

WILL has filed a lawsuit seeking a writ of mandamus on behalf of parents in the Milwaukee Public School District (MPS). This civil action seeks to hold the Milwaukee Board of School Directors, which oversees MPS, accountable for failing to provide the number of school resource officers (SROs) state law requires in order to protect MPS schools and students. Wisconsin law requires that no fewer than 25 SROs shall be present within Milwaukee public schools. 

Potential Property Tax Increases on the November Ballot!

WILL has provided a useful tool to inform voters about how the upcoming school referenda questions on the November ballot can affect their bottom line.

WILL’s calculator was developed with data from local school districts via information available online and open records requests. Gathering that data also showcased some of the shortfalls in accountability and transparency that exist at the local level related to ballot referenda.
