Dear friend,

In the aftermath of Hurricanes Milton and Helene, our community faces serious challenges.

We need your support to help rebuild and provide essential resources to all impacted by these devastating storms.

As we begin to assess the wake of Hurricane Milton, which made landfall last Wednesday, we’ve received reports from Sue Ventura, President and CEO of Easterseals Florida. She shared, “I was without power until [Friday] morning, but no damage at my home.” However, the situation at Camp Challenge, an inclusive Easterseals recreational facility, is much more severe. The camp offers a petting farm that serves as a therapeutic, fun activity for campers. A massive tree crushed the barn at the petting farm. Thankfully, all the animals are unharmed, but there was extensive destruction, with a water line out, fallen trees, downed fencing, and damaged animal shelters and habitats.

Our teams in North Carolina and Georgia also experienced significant storm damage. Many of our employees and families we serve are in urgent need of assistance.

Sheri Coleman, President and CEO of Easterseals East Georgia, shared their experience: “A tree fell on our building, requiring immediate removal and roof tarping. We’re currently waiting for the insurance inspection to determine our next steps. Many employees are dealing with damage to their homes. Right now, we urgently need to ensure that our employees have access to water, food, and cleaning supplies. Although we've just come off boil-water restrictions, the water coming from our faucets isn’t clear.”

These stories from Sue and Sheri make up a small fraction of the alarming updates that are coming in from impacted Easterseals communities. Right now, our teams lack the resources to provide needed assistance for their employees, families, and community , which is why we are reaching out to you. Your contributions will directly provide essential resources like clean water, food, and cleaning supplies for all impacted by the storms.
