Almost two thirds of tenants don’t know if they can pay rent next month. But our affordable housing crisis didn’t just start with COVID. I’ve talked to so many people who were struggling to pay bills, and at risk of eviction, long before the pandemic.
We need to cancel rent, mortgage, and utility payments for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic.
And going forward, we need a Tenants’ Bill of Rights to make sure that renters are guaranteed affordable, safe, and stable housing.
