Hello Indivisibles -- Marí here, Indivisible's National Political
Director.

Usually it’s Leah or Ezra who emails you, but I wanted to send you a note
to thank you for all you’ve done this year. 

With so many big fights coming up (not to mention an ELECTION), it’s
important to celebrate our wins along the way. That’s why I want to take a
minute to talk about a few of the amazing things we’ve done in the past
few months, and then get ready to do even more. And if I’m being honest,
at the end I am going to ask you if you can [ [link removed] ]chip in a bit more to
support more of this work -- but I promise, that’s really not the main
point of this email. 

So without further ado, three of the big things we’ve been up to this year
so far:

Launching the Pledge.

Since we launched the We Are Indivisible [ [link removed] ]pledge in April, over 38,000
grassroots Indivisibles and 20 presidential candidates have signed on to
this simple promise:

 

 

Just those numbers are a demonstration of this movement’s power, but
here’s even more: A few weeks ago, Elizabeth Warren echoed our pledge on
the debate stage, saying “I promise, no matter who our candidate is, I
will work my heart out to beat Donald Trump and to elect a Democratic
Congress.” We know this message is sinking in -- and it’s how we’re going
to win next November.

Engaging the Candidates. 

With over 20 Democrats in the race, a lot of Indivisibles in early primary
states and across the country are getting face time with candidates.
Candidates who are serious about winning the nomination must prioritize
engagement with grassroots communities.

At Netroots Nation, group leaders and Working Families Party members met
with Secretary Castro and pushed him on housing and access to mental
health care. At the She the People presidential forum in Houston,
Indivisible organizing staff and I were so grateful to spend time with and
learn alongside women of color Group Leaders (and to break bread together)
as we analyzed how candidates spoke directly to concerns facing Women of
Color and their plans for addressing them. And in Florida, group leaders
met Elizabeth Warren ahead of the Miami debate and pressed her to visit
the Homestead Detention Center. The next day, Warren was at Homestead,
speaking out against inhumane detention and family separation, and
sparking nearly every other Presidential candidate to visit.

And just this past weekend, we joined with 300 Indivisible National
Campaign Network Group Leaders about how we all think about the
opportunities and challenges in engaging in the primary. It was really
amazing to hear from so many smart, thoughtful and active Indivisibles who
are doing the hard work of moving our country forward.

Covering the Debates.

We are committed to ensuring our grassroots community is engaged in the
primary. Winning big in the general starts now. In Miami and Detroit,
Indivisible local leaders and I were there to meet the candidates,
evaluate their performance, and make sure grassroots voices were included
in debate coverage (we even made it onto [ [link removed] ]MSNBC.)

But it wasn’t just those of us in the room who were engaged: Over 300
Indivisibles held debate watch parties, using our debate watch guides to
keep track of the candidates and their positions. And after the debates,
we surveyed our movement to find out what you think about what happened
onstage.

Here’s the part that’s coolest to me: Our survey and the work Indivisibles
are doing earned a lot of news coverage and sparked interesting
conversations on live TV. What Indivisibles are doing is actively shaping
how major news covers this race. It’s really remarkable.

What's next.

That’s just a snapshot of some of the things we’ve been up to this year.
Now, as I promised up at the top, I am going to make one ask: To advance
our values in this primary and help elect a courageous and visionary
Democratic nominee to build the multi-racial and multi-generational
coalition of supporters they need to defeat Trump, it’s going to take all
of us. Everyone contributing, volunteering and doing the work.

shared values? Our plans are robust, and we are building on our collective
success, but we’re depending on YOU to fully fund it.

This work is far from over: in the next couple months, watch out for our
Congressional Endorsements program leading into the first congressional
primaries, among other major programs.

Your donations will help support that work and all of Indivisible Action’s
projects. The way we win is by continuing to develop organizing tools,
resources, and programs that will put our issues front and center.

I’m looking forward to all the coming conversations about how we leverage
the Presidential primary to build power, and also how we use our
collective power to grow support for the issues that impact people being
hurt the most by Trumpism. Preparing for the general by engaging in the
primary will help us win next November.
