Each month we hold Planning Commission meetings and present to the Board of Island County Commissioners on topics relevant to Island County’s 2025 Comprehensive Plan Update. Below are our upcoming meetings and engagement opportunities. Planning Commission The next Planning Commission meeting will be at 6 PM on Oct. 16. There will be a workshop on the Capital Facilities Element as well as a workshop giving an overview of Urban Growth Areas and the role they play in meeting the requirements of the Growth Management Act. See the agenda center for materials for this meeting. Engagement Opportunities We have just published the Island County Climate Element Resiliency Explorer StoryMap on our online engagement website which gives an overview of the climate resiliency work done to date. Later this month, we will be hosting three stakeholder workshops to discuss the Climate Resiliency Sub Element for the Comprehensive Plan. Stakeholders from a variety of organizations and industries have been invited to participate in the workshops including environmental groups, builders, tribes, social services, NASWI, and economic development. The public is invited to listen in and observe the workshops; there will be a chance for the public to provide written comments to inform the process.
The workshops will be held in-person at the Coupeville Rec Hall, located at 901 NW Alexander St, Coupeville, WA 98239. For questions, please email [email protected].
