| John, With less than four weeks remaining until Election Day, Voices for Public Transit wants to encourage our community to make their voices heard through their vote. This year is an especially important election cycle for public transit, as $52 billion in dedicated, long-term funding for public transportation will be on the ballot. Across the country, numerous cities, counties, and states have the opportunity to vote on a range of ballot measures and initiatives that would increase local public transit investments. Before you head to the polls on Election Day, be sure to set yourself up for success by following the tips below: - Register to Vote or Confirm Your Voter Registration Status. Voter registration is required for participating in national, state, and local elections. Visit Vote.Gov or your Secretary of State’s official website for voter registration information.
- Make a Plan for Election Day. If you are voting in person, be sure to find your polling location and its voting hours before you go to vote. If you can’t make it to the polls on November 5, we encourage you to take advantage of early voting opportunities.
- Know What’s on Your Ballot. Do you know if there’s a public transit measure on your ballot? Check the American Public Transportation Association’s Center for Transportation Excellence to find out!
Public transit supporters have already made a strong impact at the polls this year, with 26 out of 27 transit measures receiving support. By voting in this election—and every election—Voices for Public Transit can continue to make public transportation a winning issue. Best, Voices for Public Transit | | | |
