Hey Folks,
The election is fast approaching; both absentee ballots are beginning to be sent out and early voting polling locations are opening up on October 16th which is only two days away. It’s incredibly important that as many people as possible use these methods to cast their vote before election day hits. Voting early will make lines shorter on November 5th, reduce the strain on our dedicated poll workers, and ensure your voice is heard in case anything happens that might prevent you from voting on election day itself.
Life can sometimes get in the way, and from coming down with the flu to coming home from work to find that a pipe burst and is flooding your living room, having already voted frees you up to address the emergency at hand.
If you want to check your voter registration status to make sure you’re eligible, you can use the Iowa Secretary of State’s link here: Am I Registered to Vote in Iowa? [[link removed]]
And if you need to register to vote, you can do so at your local County Auditor’s Office, your local elections office, or online through this link here: Iowa Online Voter Registration (iowadot.gov) [[link removed]]
And don’t forget, the deadline to register to vote online is October 21st. If you forget and need to do so after, you can still do it in person at the locations mentioned above, or at the voting booth itself (though you’ll need both a proof of residence and valid form of ID with an expiration date if you register on Election Day).
