VIDEO OF THE DAY: JD Vance suffers brutal humiliation on national TV
The Republican vice presidential nominee is incapable of speaking the simplest of truths, whether out of fear of offending his thin-skinned boss or because he is, quite simply, delusional himself. Either way, it is cringeworthy and utterly disqualifying behavior.

Trump floats sending military after US citizens on election day citing "radical left lunatics" and "the enemy from within"
During yet another softball sit-down interview on Fox News, the MAGA cult leader casually and ominously suggested sending the military after US citizens on Election Day. "I don't think [immigrants] are the problem in terms of Election Day," Trump told fellow conspiracy theorist Maria Bartiromo, refuting months of his OWN claims that immigrants are voting illegally by the millions. "I think the bigger problem are the people from within, we have some very bad people, sick people, radical left lunatics. And it should be easily handled by, if necessary, by National Guard, or if really necessary, by the military," he said. No big deal, just the Republican nominee for president floating full-scale martial law and locking up millions of law-abiding Americans for the "crime" of voting against him.

Gun violence holds our communities hostage with fear
Everytown for Gun Safety: This year, American families have suffered through 404 mass shootings — more than one every day. Many of those mass shootings were made so much more deadly by use of an assault weapon, a weapon invented for use on the battlefield, designed to kill as many people as possible as quickly as possible. A weapon that has absolutely NO business being in the hands of civilians. Sign the petition and tell Congress that we demand an assault weapons ban before we’re faced with yet another preventable tragedy!
Liz Cheney says she has "no faith" Speaker Johnson will certify the 2024 election: He’s knowingly done "unconstitutional" things to "placate" Trump
For the record, we have little faith in Liz Cheney, but we share her assessment on GOP House Speaker's fealty to Donald Trump and NOT the US Constitution. We are on the precipice of a truly unprecedented moment in American democracy, and the stakes could not be higher. Johnson cannot be trusted to fulfill his constitutional duties should Kamala Harris win in November, and a second Trump presidency with a subservient House bent at the proverbial knee to do his autocratic bidding is beyond unthinkable.

DeSantis team piles hurricane debris behind podium for press conference after governor spent weeks accusing Democrats of politicizing disasters
A spokesperson for Gov. DeSantis was forced to issue a statement Sunday after Florida’s Democratic chairwoman posted footage alleging hurricane debris was deliberately being placed behind an area where the failed presidential wannabe was set to hold a press conference. DeSantis was visiting Treasure Island — a community that weathered both Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton — when Nikki Fried posted footage of what appeared to be workers piling debris from the aftermath directly behind a lectern where DeSantis was set to speak about hurricane relief efforts. “Caught on today’s livestream — adding debris behind podium before DeSantis presser,” Fried wrote. “Ron has no shame — he’s spent weeks accusing everyone else of politicizing this disaster while ordering workers to window dress his press conference.” It's an easy tell with Republicans these days. Every accusation is little more than pure projection.
Trump slammed over response to female heckler at California rally
The MAGA cult leader let loose on a heckler who interrupted his rally in Coachella, California, on Saturday by saying she would get the "hell knocked out of her" — despite saying he would be a "protector" of women in Pennsylvania last month. "Back home to mommy, she goes back home to mommy," the convicted felon sniped. “Was that you, darling? And then she gets the hell knocked out of her. Her mother’s a big fan of ours." Very presidential.

UN says Israeli tanks "forcibly entered" base of its peacekeeping force in Lebanon
Israeli tanks forcibly entered a United Nations peacekeeping force base in southern Lebanon on Sunday, the organization said, the latest accusation of violations and attacks by the IDF on the UN. It comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu demands UN forces leave the area. According to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), two Israeli Merkava tanks destroyed and burst through the main gate of a base before dawn on Sunday morning. After the tanks left, shells exploded 100 meters away, releasing smoke that blew across the base and caused UN personnel to fall sick, with 15 requiring treatment despite wearing gas masks. In its version of events, the Israeli military said militants of the Iran-backed group Hezbollah had fired anti-tank missiles at Israeli troops, wounding 25 of them. The attack was very close to a UNIFIL post and a tank that was helping evacuate the casualties under fire then backed into the UNIFIL post. Five peacekeepers have been wounded in a series of strikes in recent days, most blamed by UNIFIL on Israeli forces.
Trump ground game undercut by slow internet that crashes app
The Trump campaign is heavily relying on the Elon Musk-funded America PAC, which is handling an outsized portion of the disgraced ex-president's ground game, using a management app called Campaign Sidekick that is apparently struggling in areas with slow internet, forcing canvassers to use an offline version. The Campaign Sidekick app effectively forces canvassers who have less than 40 mbps of internet — sufficient to stream 4K video — to use “offline walkbooks” which have no geo-tracking feature and do not always upload after a route is completed, the people said. As a result, the Trump campaign and America PAC have little way to know whether canvassers are actually knocking on doors or whether they are cheating — for instance, by “speed-running” routes where they literally throw campaign materials at doors as they drive past. For the sake of democracy let's hope it's the latter...
