Dear John, As many as half of children under five worldwide lack access to the nutrition they need to properly grow and thrive. Roughly 45 percent of deaths in children under five are related to improper nutrition. The effects of hunger and malnutrition can last a lifetime. However, studies also suggest that with age-appropriate intervention, many of the negative effects can be drastically reduced. As World Food Day approaches, you can make a difference for those who are suffering. First, read our blog, “Hunger Can Lasts a Lifetime — But It Does Not Have To.” Then make plans to join us for the Pass2Provide challenge on October 16 by simply fasting from one meal and using what you would have spent on food to help turn hunger into hope for someone in need. |
