.1. It was great to join the Kansas Chamber’s Manufacturing Summit in Wichita last week for a panel to discuss the latest laws and regulations that could impact Kansas manufacturers and their employees and operations. I shared about my work as chair of the U.S. Innovation Tax Team and our efforts to restore immediate R&D expensing and other policies that benefit Kansas’ innovators and job creators.
2. Last week I also visited a new Wichita non-profit that provides safe housing for Kansans in recovery from substance abuse and addiction. Harmony Haven Homes offers a sober-living community that empowers individuals to overcome their addiction and achieve independence. It was impressive to see all they’ve accomplished so far as they look to grow and serve more people in need in our community.
3. The Goddard Chamber of Commerce hosted me as their monthly lunch speaker to give an update on what is happening in our nation's capital that will affect business and the workforce. I again spoke about tax reform, how uncontrolled spending is driving inflation and the Supreme Court's decision in the recent Loper Bright case that will help claw back burdensome and overbearing regulation. I was then glad to take questions from attendees and hear directly from them about their concerns.
4. Last week I visited one of the many companies that helps give Wichita its name as the Air Capital of the World. Electromech Technologies makes components for commercial and defense aviation, as well as other technologies. It was great to tour their newly updated manufacturing facility and meet some of the employees who work there.
