Tomorrow is Indigenous Peoples’ Day, and I’d like to take some time to share with you what the day is all about. Indigenous Peoples’ Day was first reclaimed in 1992, pivoting the day from one that celebrated Christopher Columbus, to one that instead focused on the Indigenous people.

Together, we can help ensure that Indigenous voices are heard, honored, and respected – not just tomorrow, but every day. If elected, I would be the first-ever Native American member of Congress from our state - can you please chip in anything you can to support my campaign?

Even if you’re not an Indigenous person, I’d like to invite you to consider a few different ways to observe this day:

Support Indigenous Communities and Businesses: Consider shopping and supporting Indigenous businesses, artists, and organizations
Educate yourself: Learn about different Native tribes in your area and their history
Advocate for Change: Use your voice to amplify issues impacting Indigenous people today, from land sovereignty to access to healthcare

This day is about reclaiming our history and honoring the resilience, contributions, and ongoing presence of Indigenous communities across our nation. It’s an opportunity for reflection, education, and action.
