Hezbollah launched 320 rockets at Israeli civilians during the Yom Kippur holiday, forcing over a million Israelis into bomb shelters across northern Israel.
The terror army also flew numerous attack drones into Israeli cities and towns. One drone evaded Israel’s defenses and crashed into a retirement home in Herzliya which houses Holocaust survivors. Thankfully, the residents were in safe rooms during the attack and did not sustain injuries. In a demonstration of defiance against the terrorists, the residents draped an Israeli flag over the damage caused by the drone.
Hezbollah’s relentless rocket fire has continued today, with over 150 more rockets launched toward Israeli cities and towns since this morning. One missile-carrying drone directly hit a military base south of Haifa this evening. At least 60 are reportedly injured, including some in critical condition.
The IDF is pressing forward with its operation to clear terrorists and their weapons from villages in southern Lebanon, while striking Hezbollah sites from the air. Israeli troops are discovering weapons caches, terror tunnels, and Hezbollah bunkers in nearly every home near the border.
"The first line of villages in southern Lebanon is a Hezbollah military target," Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said today. "These places will be destroyed, and even after the IDF forces leave the area, we will not allow Hezbollah to return here."
Gallant said that Israel has destroyed two-thirds of Hezbollah’s arsenal, approximately 100,000 rockets and missiles. The terror group remains the best-armed terrorist organization in the world and still possesses tens of thousands of missiles, drones and rockets – many with precision guidance capabilities.
PM Netanyahu to U.N. Secretary General: Evacuate UNIFIL from the border
In a video message today, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu pressed U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres to move the U.N.’s forces in Lebanon away from Hezbollah strongholds and combat zones where the IDF is operating.
“The IDF has requested this repeatedly and has met with repeated refusal, which has the effect of providing Hezbollah terrorists with human shields. Your refusal to evacuate UNIFIL soldiers has turned them into hostages of Hezbollah. This endangers both them and the lives of our soldiers,” he said.
“We regret the harm to UNIFIL soldiers and we are doing our utmost to prevent such harm. But the simplest and most obvious way to ensure this is simply to withdraw them from the danger zone. Mr. Secretary General, get the UNIFIL forces out of harm's way. It should be done right now, immediately.”
UNIFIL was supposed to disarm Hezbollah, prevent the terror group from rearming, and move them north of the Litani River as mandated eighteen years ago by U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701. Hezbollah’s terror fortress among and beneath villages throughout southern Lebanon is a direct result of the U.N. failure to implement the resolution.
In a revealing video published by the IDF today, Israeli soldiers found a Hezbollah tunnel built 100 yards from a UNIFIL watchtower:
The Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) systems will be added to Israel’s array of missile defense capabilities to intercept incoming ballistic missiles and will be operated by American troops.
Last year, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin ordered the deployment of a THAAD battery and additional Patriot battalions around the Middle East to increase the protection of U.S. forces and to help defend Israel.
Israel is preparing its response to Iran’s massive ballistic missile assault on October 1. Watch the 2-minute video below highlighting Iran’s attack, the remarkable Israeli defense capabilities made possible through our work together, and the need for America’s leaders to ensure the regime faces severe consequences.
Hamas official: Israel will be annihilated in 10 years
Senior Hamas leader Osama Hamdan declared over the weekend that the October 7 massacre “is laying the foundation for the liberation” that will see Israel wiped off the map.
“I don’t think that Israel will be on the map of the region in ten years…Then the people will say, ‘May Allah be pleased with the people who launched the Al-Aqsa Flood, because they wrote the first line in the story of the end of Israel.'”
Hamdan also justified murdering all Israelis by suggesting that they are all “occupiers.”
